As a photographer based in the South, I often document big weddings filled with folks with even bigger hearts and lots of gorgeous details. I began to wonder that if all the sentiment and warmth of these large gatherings could be encapsulated in a small, intimate affair, what would that look like?
Working with a team of wedding experts brought a unique and fresh approach to this emotive concept. Every detail worked together to create the perfect tension between timeless South and easy modern. Cheekwood Estate and Gardens played host to our shoot, providing a classic and lush backdrop. Forgoing the double-digit wedding party, our couple assisted each other in getting ready, a tender take on a First Look, and followed with perfectly-lit portraits on the grounds. Their reception table designed by Lauren Ledbetter and 12th Table elegantly displayed loose floral arrangements anchored in brass and accented by clean, white place settings and chairs. A favorite detail came from Spurlé Gul Studios: organic calligraphy scribed on handmade paper. No wedding is complete without cake and champagne, and this was no exception! Tessa Pinner provided a chai cake with berry filling and frosted in a painterly vanilla buttercream that echoes the optimism of a blue sky.
