Sarah’s family spent many summer’s soaking in the rich mountain landscapes at their lake house for years, so it was their particular wish to share the beauty of Cashiers, NC with all their loved ones. Sarah’s vision included a custom gown with eyelet lace, summer-appropriate tones in her bouquet and small tributes to their beloved companion, Scout the labrador, sprinkled throughout.
According to Southern tradition, Adam buried a bottle of bourbon in order to ward off rain. (It worked!) They exchanged gifts prior to their first look, and in keeping with their own ritual, he packaged his gift to her in an unlikely container to throw off any guesses – a bottle of sunscreen. Instead of a large wedding band, they entertained their guests with a small jazz ensemble that was the perfect compliment to the relaxed mountain views. Finally, they didn’t want to forget the most important people in their lives who happened to share a birthday with their wedding date: during the reception, they presented her mother and his father with their own small cakes!
From Sarah the bride:
“The wedding was inspired by the natural beauty of the area. I wanted the flowers to feel like they were collected during a hike through the woods. I love how lush the forest is there. In fact, it actually qualifies as a rainforest! The area where I got ready is a very special place to my family. For as long as I can remember, it has been the site for our family vacations. Our dog also played an important role on our wedding day: she appeared on our Save the Date cards, walked down the aisle, and was represented by labrador figurines on reception tables. As a special final touch, I used my grandmother’s brooch in my bouquet.”
